Question by : Do mini laptops have good reviews?
i need a laptop for school, and internet that holds pictures. i don’t have a lot of money, so is a hp mini worth it?

if i were going to get a laptop, i would invest in something the is at least halfway decent. generally those laptops are running windows xp, which is a decent operating system… but it is almost 10 years old. also, they generally have the memory equivalent of an ipod, so you won’t be able to store many pictures.
If i were you, i would save up for a nicer laptop!

Laptop Battery?

I have a laptop with a 9-cell battery but I basically use my computer as a desktop. I have separate keyboard, and mouse which I use. I have had my computer since Aug 20th, and have not yet used the battery.

Is there something I should do in order to maintain my battery life?

My friend told me to drain it once a week and fill it back up, and I have also heard that leaving my computer plugged at night is bad.

Is this true? And what should I do regarding my battery if im not really planning on using all that much?

I will use it on vacations and stuff in the future, and at University,.

Yes about every other week take it off the charger and let it almost die then plug it back in and that should help your battery life, its worked for my laptop.

I’m noticing that the lighter the laptop, the heavier the price. Like, seriously? Ridiculous. I want a decent laptop that is no more than $ 650 and I can carry around easily without breaking my back at college. Can you recommend some light ones for me please? Thanks!

Ok, pc world are selling two versions of an advent laptop, one is this one:

The next is not on their website, but is the same but with a webcam built in, 2gb of ram and a 1.8ghz processor. Its also £100 more

Basically is it worth the extra hundred and will it make that much difference. Also if i want to play games (half life 2 etc)does it matter that the graphics card is shared, and will the spec of the processor etc make up for this? Do i need the extra gb of ram?

For a windows vista machine, I’d definately suggest having the extra RAM. And think about it: You’re probably going to use this laptop for a long time, and probably quite often. Isn’t it worth it to spend more money now that will benefit you for countless hours over the next couple years?

If you can though, I’d drop the webcam. Laptop webcams aren’t always the snazziest and can be a bit pricey.

For ages now the inbuilt speakers on my laptop have not played sound. When I plug in other computer speakers or headphones the sound works. Is it a setting that is preventing my laptop speakers from playing any sound? Please give me a list of things that might be preventing my laptop speakers from playing sound, and tell me how to resolve these if possible

PLEASE help! Thanks in advance!
Also, I can’t think of anything that might’ve damaged my laptop speakers..

go to the laptops company’s website and you should be able to download a audio device which should get the sound working

Laptops and notebooks are one and the same and have similar power and screen resolutions to regular desktop systems.

A netbook is generally a smaller device with a lower resolution screen that is geared more for browsing and email and not for running most applications.
