I am a sixteen year old high school junior saving up money for my first laptop and I would like to get wifi put in my house as well. I would like to spend between 6 to 8 hundred dollars on a laptop I can use for schoolwork and to put music on through itunes. Any suggestions on laptop deals or the cheapest way to put wifi at my house when we already have Verizon Highspeed Internet?

try dell minis. i have one and it works great. they come in sizes ranging from 9 inches to 12 inches. they are also great for internets use. and they battery is originally a 3 cell but you can upgrade to a 6 cell.

I was looking into buying a MacBook computer and I wanted to know what the price would be once my boyfriend gets a job there (in the tech park of the store). The retail price is around $ 999.

they add 10% over what they paid for it, but they already don’t sell computers for much margin. Also, doesn’t matter what part of the store he’s in.
The real savings are in anything labeled “Geek Squad” or whatever other shitty brands are owned by best buy.

Like their usb cables, they used to sell them for $ 15, they get them for $ 1

So if you bought usb cables over time, you could sell them on ebay and make the price of the computer in no time. (you’d get fired)

Before I quit that shit job, I bought a whole bunch of usb cables for my friend and myself. First the total was hundreds of dollars, then the employee discount goes in, and it’s hardly anything.

So, think about it in terms of what the store makes profit off of, which are the accessories, they gouge the price on accessories, which is why they’re always, “OH HAY GUY, DON’T YOU NEED GOLD CABLES, HUR HUR” or USP’s etc. Mac already makes most of the money off of the laptop, and best buy might be able to take like 7% off, for employees, so WOOOO you saved tax.

protip2: when really cheap computers came in, they would throw the store employees an “option” to buy it before customers got in the door, so sometimes there weren’t any left for the customers. That’s taking care of the customer for you.

There is no definite answer to this question.

A lot of you people say: “Why does everyone tell me it’s all about preference?”

The answer is simple: It IS all about preference.

There is no easy, quick, way to buy a laptop, and in order to get the “best” one for yourself- You need to do some research.

List what you will be using it for and what environment it will be in, so we can determine how tough it needs to be.

Hi everyone so I’m going to get a new laptop with my family and we were wondering what the best cheap(but still good laptops) there are for playing computer games? It doesn’t really have to do anything else besides powerpoint and get internet and play computer games (because my little siblings play them all the time).

So what’s the best and cheapest PC for computer games? No mac’s please. We can’t really afford them and a lot of games aren’t mac. Thank you so much!

I would like a new laptop on finance. I saw the one I wanted on PcWorld (The HP laptop which flips into a notebook with a touchscreen) – however the APR was 21.9!! The best loan I can see is 19.4APR. I want a nice laptop that I can pay about £20-£40 a month for around 2 years. Recommendations would be appreciated, or the best way to “work the system”. – Many thanks.
I have an &More card with debt on it and want to avoid taking out any more credit cards. The stores over here in Ireland don’t really have store cards in computer stores.

Find a store that sells them and get the store credit card and buy the laptop when they are offering interest free financing. I got 2 years interest free when I bought my TV.

I have a sony vaio fj270, which crashed last night. I had it for a year and paid $ 1,300 for it. Last Sunday, the car we were driving was hit by the car behind us. There wasn’t a huge damage on the car, but I think the impact was pretty strong. I was able to use my laptop for another 2 days until it suddenly went off, like the screen was all white. I tried to fix it with sony support but no luck. I was very disappointed. Now, I have to get a new laptop because I am studying for the board exams, and my next exam is in a month…I was wondering if you guys have some tips on buying laptops, and maybe if you know of a more durable one than a sony vaio. Thanks.

Vaio is normally a pretty durable laptop. If it worked after being bumped into, you may just have a short in the wiring or a pinched wire. It might be worth taking it to a pro and having them open it up to take a look at it. Dont throw in the towel yet.

But, Panasonic makes the “Toughbook” that is supposedly really durable.
